Google’s Ambitious Leap: Aiming for AI Supremacy by 2024
Google, the tech behemoth, has set its sights on becoming the world leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI) by 2024. An internal document leaked recently reveals the company’s ambitious plan.
The document outlines Google’s goal of delivering the world’s most advanced, safe, and responsible AI. This goal is part of a broader set of objectives that include improving knowledge, learning, creativity, and productivity; building the most helpful personal computing platforms and devices; enabling organizations and developers to innovate on Google Cloud; and providing the world’s most trusted products and platforms.
Google’s AI aspirations are not unfounded. The company has been making rapid strides in AI, with its Bard technology and associated Gemini tech. Despite stiff competition from OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google is determined to make major improvements to its underlying technology.
The company’s AI ambitions extend beyond just software. Google plans to integrate AI technologies into its Pixel devices and other gadgets launching this year. The use of the word “helpful” suggests we may see further integration with AI technologies in the Pixel 9 series.
However, the road to AI supremacy is not without challenges. Google has been laying off its employees since the beginning of the month. The goal of “improving company velocity, efficiency, and productivity, and deliver durable cost savings” points to more layoffs. The pressure is immense on the tech giant, especially since Google’s Bard has not gained any ground and hasn’t succeeded yet as a standalone AI product on the levels of ChatGPT.
Despite these challenges, Google remains undeterred. The company is leaving no stone unturned to catch up in AI and maintain its momentum and dominance in search. As the race for AI supremacy heats up, all eyes will be on Google to see if it can achieve its grand plan by 2024.
